On the weekend, my mom and I went to see It’s a Wonderful Life at the Granville Island Stage being put on by the Arts Club Theatre Company. Obviously, it is a great story so there are no complaints there, but not only that, the entire performance was really good. There is not a bad seat in the house and the actors were very engaging! Jennifer Lines played Mary Bailey which was really fun since the last play my mom and I went to see was at Bard on the Beach and she was in that as well… she really is an amazing actor.
It was easy to see that everyone in this play was passionate about their roles, making each character their own. Throughout the play we began to feel like we really knew each character really well, which is a rare find in live theatre sometimes (although the Arts Club hasn’t failed me yet). Also the scenery was fantastic, only what was needed ever appeared on stage and the clips and still images from the film appearing in the background gave it a unique appeal. I would highly recommend anyone considering going to check it out, if tickets are even still available. Otherwise, be sure to put it on your list for next year. I bought tickets to it for my mom as her birthday present (seems to be a trend with me as Bard on the Beach was her mother’s day present).
